Husband is Big Time

As most of y'all know the man I'm married to is pretty brilliant.

That's right, he's cute and smart!

Anyway like most southern boys, he's football crazy. Specifically SEC football, more specifically Auburn football. He was recently contacted by bcs.net about featuring his blog post on their site. They posted it here and it's also posted on track 'em tigers which is an Auburn site here and then of course his blog here. I am so very proud of him! Go check out his posts, leave some comments, and follow his blog!!

Independent Mama

I remember when Kaylee was first born and I got the go ahead to start driving after my c-section we NEVER stayed home.. I remember going everywhere with Ethan in a stroller and Kaylee in one of those little baby slings. Mall, flea markets, Ham Festivals, etc. James worked a TON of hours and I couldn't imagine leaving my precious baby with anyone else or even worse sitting at home..

Today the kids and I made a trip to Tiger Town, we went to TJ Maxx, Ross, Rue 21, Kohls, Dick's Sporting Goods, and Alumni Hall. We ran into McDonalds and had lunch.. We made a quick stop at Plato's Closet and got SOAKED in the flood that hit Auburn today. After that we ran to the big mall and hit JC Penney (twice), Body Central, Aeropostale, and Dillards. Then as exhausted as I was I took them to Walmart so I could pick up groceries for dinner.. That sounds like a lot but after we leave the gym in the mornings this is what our typical day looks like while Daddy is at work. Just the three of us

I never realized all of this was a big deal to people but it seems like I log in to facebook on a daily basis and I see mothers who "can't" go grocery shopping because their husbands are working late and they have no one to babysit. Don't get me wrong I LOVE my solo trips to Walmart it's like a mini vacation, but when did parents get so lazy?  I feel like I deserve an award!!

Also you can't get super cute pics like this leaving the kids at home. :)

The mall three times in one week.. We didn't ride the train today.

Gym

Another mall trip.

Pool time

Chick Fil-A

J and M Bookstore

Sometimes it's hard and I need a break but I love being home with my babies. I am so grateful for an AMAZING husband who makes this possible.

B-day party picture post.

We just had a small get together for Kaylee's birthday party today with some friends. So in honor of Kaylee's birthday I was looking at her parties from past years..

1st b-day party. This is one of my all time favorite pics of Kaylee.

2nd b-day party. She talked about this "shlip shlop" (flip  flop) cake for weeks!!

3rd b-day party.. This was right before we left Kentucky to come to Alabama, and one of our last get togethers with my family.

And finally pictures from today!!

Happy Birthday Kaylee

Warning:
This post will be pic heavy.

4 years ago today I laid my eyes on the most gorgeous little girl I've ever seen.

Her big brother was smitten instantly.

And he still is.

Kaylee Paige Ashley you are the most beautiful girl I know. You are so sweet, and so smart, and mommy and daddy are so so proud of you. It seems like just yesterday we were bringing you home from the hospital, yet we can't remember what life was like before we had you. You have changed so much, but you are still our pretty, prissy, girly girl that we had always prayed for.

Happy Birthday baby!! We love you more than anything!!

Shoes

I think I finally found the holy grail of running shoes! I biked for five miles and ran a couple miles yesterday at the gym and these shoes felt AMAZING!!!

I got these Asics at the Shoe Department, in the kids section for under 40 bucks and they were worth every dime of it! I had worn some cute little white gladiator sandals on Sunday and they left a blister on the back of my foot and these didn't even irritate it while I was running.

A few days ago I had bought these.
I wore these long enough to get the kids ready, took them off, and promptly returned them.. Nikes never seem to work out for me.. Love the colors, hate the bulky heavy way they feel..

I have also heard good things about Mizuno Wave Riders, those were also on sale at the shoe store.. Anyone wore both Asics and MWR's? Thoughts on which are better?

New facebook page

Y'all know I love makin' your little girl big hairbows and Christmas will be here before you know it and I'll be back to making the customized gifts.. Pleaseee go like my page and share it with your friends... Thanks y'all!!

BBQ, Gym, and a Race

There is definitely no better southern dish than pulled pork BBQ, so since we're kinda new to the area we got online and started huntin' for a place to get some BBQ here in Auburn. When I told my husband the price of a pound of  BBQ he quickly informed me that a pound was enough for him, but I needed to get myself and my kids our own, ha! So because I'm admittedly CHEAP I decided to make my own.. I used a boneless pork shoulder. I bought a 4.5 lb one for about 11 bucks which was roughly the same amount as ONE lb at the restaurants here in Auburn.

I seasoned the meat with cavenders, ground black pepper, and N'Awlins cajun seasoning. Those just happen to be our favorite seasonings, you can use whatever you prefer.

Then I seared the seasoning in on each side for about 5 minutes.

In the meantime I added a cup of Dale's sauce, and a cup of water to the crock pot and added my meat and cooked it on high for about 6 hours.

I don't like thick "basting" sauce for my BBQ sandwiches and this was PERFECT! I picked it up at Walmart for under 3 bucks.

PERFECTION!!

I've kinda  been neglecting my Beach Body family and have been putting in lots of hours at the gym. I'm a big fan of the atmosphere of gyms and I enjoy going so it's a change of pace and I'm definitely encouraged right now.

My husband told me this morning about a 5k in Phenix City in a couple weeks so I'll definitely be signing up for that. I'm pretty excited.. Go here if you're interested!

I was working on my 5k time this morning and I was a little faster than I realized..

Now if I can maintain this in the Alabama heat I'll be THRILLED!! I'll defintely continue to train to improve my time, and do a few road training runs.

Have a great week y'all!! :)

Catching up

It has been a BUSY Summer so far. Since I last posted I had my 28th birthday (YIKES!! I think that means I'm officially in my "late 20's".

Me on my 27th birthday.

And a pic from this year.. I don't reckon I've aged too much. :)

We spent July 3rd in Opelika at their fireworks show with some friends..

And then on the 4th the grown ups headed to Atlanta to watch the Braves!!

The only thing that could've made our 4th better would have been a Braves victory!! :)
